TWAS Regional Office launches new website
TWAS’s Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa (TWAS-ROSSA) has launched a new website this week, delivering news and information about its events and opportunities through a modern, user-friendly format.
The dynamic, appealing new web layout is just one step taken by TWAS-ROSSA – based at the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) headquarters in Pretoria, South Africa – to advance the TWAS mission in sub-Saharan Africa, and help the office evolve into a regional science centre. It’s also part of the larger goal to feature stories by TWAS Fellows and Affiliates from the region.
"The launch of the TWAS-ROSSA website marks an important milestone for the regional office," said TWAS Fellow Roseanne Diab, Executive Officer of ASSAf and coordinator of the office. "It will provide a source of information on activities and prizes and will raise awareness on the role of TWAS in Africa. Congratulations to all those involved in its development on its fresh and vibrant look."
ROSSA moved to Pretoria from Nairobi, Kenya, last year, and is one of five TWAS regional offices, each based in a different region of the developing world. These offices provide information to scientists throughout the developing world, nominate scientists for membership and prizes, select TWAS Young Affiliates, and organize conferences.
Other offices represent Latin America, based at the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; East and South-East Asia and the Pacific, based at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China); the Arab Region, based at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt; and Central and South Asia, based at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bangalore, India.
